I've noticed on RTT that all services on the Settle & Carlisle line have been extended from Appleby to Lazonby. Is there an event taking place or have Northern changed the timetables and extended services to Lazonby?

They are all down as 'Variations' too.

Only the latter end of this week and the weekend to facilitate additional passengers for the Annual Gypsy invasion of Appleby with their horses (Appleby Horse Fair. Reverts back to Appleby turn rounds on Monday.

Ahh that makes sense then. But why extend to Lazonby? Is there a huge gypsy presence at Lazonby that need to get to Appleby for the fair, or is it just to ease road traffic?

So that connecting buses can avoid congestion in Appleby resulting from Appleby Horse Fair.

The Northern website reveals that Kirkby Stephen is being used for the non stop Carlisle buses, Langwathby for the stoppers. Not sure why Lazonby though, but Googlemaps suggests there is car parking there (non railway?).

There are no car parking facilities at Lazonby just limited on street parking
