Well if a flyover could be built how about extending the Romford to Upminster shuttle to Gray`s and just run NXEA between Upminster & Grays :)

Well if a flyover could be built how about extending the Romford to Upminster shuttle to Gray's and just run NXEA between Upminster & Grays :)

How many times have I designed an LTS timetable with a Romford - Grays service... I even created a scenario on TRS2004 with a tunnel underneath the main lines and the Underground sidings at Upminster to allow it once. It would leave Platform 6 at Upminster redundant though.

An alternative idea I've had is to double the Romford side and provide a new terminus for the Shenfield Metro, with services to Shenfield extended to either Chelmsford or Wickford and calling only at Ilford between Romford and Stratford. Then they can redvelop Bethnal Green (including new GEML platforms) to give connections there (or otherwise redvelop the Hackney stations).

Templecombe: If I had the money, a service between the two Yeovil stations - albeit probably a bus - would already be in the planning stages! :D

What, Is there a trainz route of Romford - Upminster ?

How about rebuilding the connection between Ilford Depot and the Central Line :D

I like that idea too :D

No there isn't, sorry. It was a very cheap thing I did of the entire Thameside and southern GE area. I don't even know if I have access to it anymore; I'm not sure which computer it's saved on. Trust me on this; it's pretty worthless.

Assuming you were to change crews there; Carstairs-Euston would be one hell of a shift for the driver, how about:

As Before to Carstairs:

Lockerbie
Carlisle
Preston
Euston?

WAG Express: Good luck getting that through Flint without calling!

LAncaster to Barrow may be better just Carnforth, Grange, Ulveston, Barrow :D

sorry didnt know all the stops for the wag express down the coast.

A route i would like to See is:

Portishead - Bristol TM - Filton Abbey Wood - Avonmouth - Bristol TM - Portishead

I cant seem to find it now but I do remember there was a proposed timetable published in one the documents for rail services in the Bristol area for this service but this required 4 tracking the line between Parson Street & Filton.

This would be a good service because it will provide a link to the cribbs causeway & Filton Airport

Having read this thread I think someone already mentioned Burton On Trent - Lichfield, I was thinking of this recently how about Derby - Hereford, via Aston, New St, Stourbridge Jn intermediate service?

Other than that, maybe Birmingham Int'l - Aston - Walsall - Wolverhampton metro?

How do you plan doing Stourbridge Jn - the Smethwick Chord thingy? :D
Suppose the need for reversal at Walsall would rule out the Wolves bit of the last, but, like ATW services, I suppose some Bhm N St-Walsall trains could start back at Intl :D

Is the old New St - Stourbridge line out of use now? Must admit I hadn't noticed

Reverse at Walsall not so bad, a 5 min wait?

Not out of use if you're on about the one in use until S G Bridge opened, just a Hereford service would do the Lickey then Worcester route, but if it was to connect Stourbridge up then you would use the old Smethwick chord - still in place :D

I would say a a link between Hertford North and Welwyn Garden City would be very useful for diversions and ECS moves ie like last night, the last train to Peterborough got diverted via Hertford not calling at stations along the Welwyn route, it could in theory call as booked up to Welwyn Garden City then across to Stevenage via Hertford, might take some time but would be preferable to buses.

I would also say a line between Mallaig and Kyle of Lochalsh would be good especially seeing as close they look to be on a map.

Still, I think the Lincoln services should run via Spalding and not Newark providing of course the investment is applied to the line, which would mean the longer distance services to Scotland, Yorkshire and the North East could use the valuable capacity of the ECML.

I don't know how viable it is, but how about Southend Victoria - Colchester?

-Southend Victoria
Southend Airport
Rayleigh
Wickford
Billericay
Shenfield
(REVERSE)
Chelmsford
Witham
Marks Tey
-Colchester

Could even be extended to Colchester Town. Like I say I don't know how viable it is with the current track layout, but I see no problem in reversing at Shenfield (plenty of other services reverse at other stations). I'd run two or three an hour, of which I might even stop one all stops.

Maybe could turn into the same old thing: most people just change at Shenfield anyway, especially with the frequency of service on both lines :D

That has crossed my mind, but I always overrule it by insisting that these two towns of considerable size in the same county should have a direct service. :)

You mean the "same old thing" that I seem to propose every month? I keep telling you all, there *is* a market for a direct service with a reversal at Shenfield (or better still a chord from Billericay to Ingatestone), and for the Norwich services to call at Shenfield (maybe not both though). This is especially true considering Southend's links to the GEML towns besides the Victoria line are very poor; the (admittedly very nice) X30 coach to Stansted through Chelmsford is essentially all you have! (Unless you fancy travelling on a smelly old Dart through myriad villages and on a diversion through Leigh-on-Sea, every two hours.)

Erm never seen you mention this Ivo mate, but as an Essexman (or Southendian) I'll accept that you know what would suit the good people of Essex better :D

They did that for a while a few years back. Walsall - New St - International, then they changed it to go through to Wolves with a seperate shuttle for all stations to International.

Purely my not having grasped the layout at Picc. Seems the route diagrams just confused the issue further!

there is a bus but it would be cheaper to have a 153 on a shuttle like the old days

I think a North Wales Coast - East Coast Service would be good.

Could run it from Holyhead to York or even Scarborough via the South Pennine Routes.

Places it should stop:

Llandudno
Wrexham
Chester
Stockport
Sheffield
Leeds
York
