Stadler is set to deliver 18 multifunctional, trimodal (overhead electric, battery and diesel) firefighting and rescue trains to ÖBB. These trains will be stationed at strategic tunnel portals across Austria to assist firefighters in emergencies.
The Servicejet is a bespoke solution for ÖBB, also approved for use on the German rail network. The vehicles will debut during the opening of the Koralm Railway, which includes a 33-kilometre tunnel.

Early renders of these showed them having FLIRT cabs so interesting to see such a different design on the completed units.

It's certainly distinctive, that's for sure.

Austria has some very long tunnels; the Brenner Base Tunnel to Italy will be 64km when its finished. So this is definitely needed.
