Any ideas on what this is? It was a gift for my grandfather when he retired but from what he said he didn’t think very many of them were made.
It’s made from solid brass and is very heavy.

I’d be interested to know if there are many about.

It would be a model of a driven wheelset from a bogie with nose hung traction motors given the position of the bearing tube carriers / fillets.

Thanks, that would make sense as he was an engineer foreman for British rail, from what he said, they weren’t given to people his grade though, it was only for higher ups but he knew the person who made them and he got one as a retirement gift

People who are special to their team will generally get one regardless of "If you're supposed to" or not.

I had one from my last employer, in spite of only working there six years.
