Its just the wrong operational code. No tokens have been exchanged at Dovey for over a decade since ETCS was installed, and even then they werent physical. Why anyone has put the same thing at Borth is beyond me.

- what does that code actually mean
- I wonder what the code is meant to be? (and supplementary, I wonder why this short shuttle doesn't stop at Borth, and Bow Street, like all other services seem to)

Its lazy timetabling. I can't see any reason for that code at Dovey and especially not at Borth (you can't pass trains).They just need to be dwells with no codes.

I expect it means it is the location where a physical token is exchanged between the signaller and the driver.

In my area, it used to happen at some stations between Aberdeen and Inverness (e.g. Forres, Nairn), but no longer does after a signalling upgrade to colour lights a few years back.

The timings are too tight - it's Pwllheli-Mach-Aber-Shrewsbury with minimal turnround times.

The code is still used where a token (or tablet) exchange takes place, including RETB. Look at the West Highland or Far North lines for plenty of examples. Between Girvan and Stranraer all trains stop 3 times to excjan tokens: Dunragit and Glenwhilly are purely token exchanges, plus Barrhill station.

But it could be a section break so that one train can follow another down to Aberystwyth (electronic “staff and ticket”). Not saying it is….
