Separate subforums for buses and light rail/tram systems?

I was wondering if there should be separate subforums for buses and light rail/tram/etc. systems. I don't know if there are any other people with the same views as me, but I'm rather interested in the latter and not so much in the former, and it would make it easier to find threads - obviously if I'm the only one who thinks this, it should be left alone, but are there any others with my opinion?

I don't mean a separate subforum in the main board, but a subforum like the "London Underground" subforum (perhaps they could be merged to just have an "other rail systems" forum?)

If we get enough threads to warrant it, we are likely to add those sub-forums.

At present, on the 18 most recent threads, only 2 of them appears to be about light rail/tram, so I don't think there's anywhere near enough to warrant a separate section.

Renaming the LU section to also include light rail would be more viable in terms of the numbers, though it would be less useful for people who just want all LU stuff in one place, I'm also not sure, if doing it that way, it should be a sub-forum though.

Any more suggestions, we have a Contact Us form for that purpose (a good time of year for suggesting new forums/sub-forums etc is around November, or July, so it's fresh in our minds prior to our all-staff meetings, which is when we usually discuss and implement any re-organisation). Any postings made in the discussion forums may not be read by the forum staff, as there are too many posts (e.g. 1011 yesterday and 1019 the day before!) to read them all unfortunately.

Ah, I see. Thanks. (I've wondered if the small number of threads about light rail is because of this, though, since each system just seems to have a "master thread" that contains everything, which isn't exactly ideal...)

My preference (if asked) would be to basically swap the positions of 'Buses' and 'London Underground' in the hierarchy, which is something a bit like Yorkie is explaining above.

Hence, as this is effectively a site for those mainly interested in Rail, then 'Other Public Transport' would become a level down from the main 'National Rail' topics for all other rail based systems; i.e. Underground, Trams, DLR, TW Metro etc, and then 'Buses' would become a sub-forum of that.

I agree that the folk interested in lu may have little interest in Metrolink etc.

However a lot of PTE type discussion is pan-mode.

Don't forget boats too!

with discussions on water and air transport found here too?↲ i like that idea as have only a passing interest in LU and a very occasional one in metro and other type systems but I do like my buses and boats.

If members want LU to remain a separate forum, perhaps a sub-forum in a a board for "Other Public Transport" as swt_passenger suggests, with another sub-forum for "Non-Rail Transport". I guess shuttle transit systems (as seen in airports) would belong there.

The Manchester Metrolink long-running thread is now a master thread for this system and the Sheffield Supertram master thread was recently set up, motivated by that thread. There have been threads about Blackpool Tramways that can cover both historical and current matters. plus other threads on the subject of the Croydon Tramlink, Nottingham Express Transit, Midland Metro and the system that has been a long-running planning and operational matter in Edinburgh.

Looking strictly at London and the existing London Underground sub-forum, may I suggest one being set up for the Docklands Light Railway.

Matters of the Glasgow Underground and the Tyne and Wear Metro are one to consider for the setting up of "master threads".

Perhaps a master "Tram-Train" sub-forum would be a good idea, as there have been postings on various threads with concern to this matter.

I trust that I have not seemed to be my usual pedantic self on this matter, but I was sure that you did expect a posting from me to appear on this thread.

Just to give another perspective, how about removing LU as it's own subforum? May make 'other' a busier section?
