selly oak to Cambridge 19/06/13

Hi I have a off peak standard return from cambridge to selly oak today I am due to return to Cambridge. This is the journey details that I was sent with the tickets form my employer.

Ticket type: Standard Off Peak Return
Route: NOT VIA LONDON
Arr Dep
17:52 SELLY OAK
18:03 18:22 BIRMINGHAM NEW STREET
21:08 CAMBRIDGE

My course will finish in time for me to be at selly oak at 16:30. My question is is there any way I can get home quicker and/ or by not using the 18:03 to CBG as it is always a very busy service
I have seen the 17:22 from new street to Cambridge but surely this is peak ?

your ticket is valid on any train for the return journey so you can catch the first available train after you get to the station - your ticket is an off peak return which can be used on any service (after 09:30 on weekdays).
