Okay I was late for my train for work last year and new i could pay at the other end before going through the barriers. I was unaware at this time that it was an offence to board a train without purchasing a ticket. When i tried to pay at the other end, my visa electron card didn't work so the man told me to go through and use the machine on the other side. I did this but it still didn't work so I could only assume I didn't have enough money. I then stupidly started to leave the station. Needless to say I was approached by an inspector and told him I didn't have enough money. Again stupidly when he asked me was I going to leave without paying I answered yes, I was scared and didn't know what to do. He started to take my details and even more stupidly I gave a false address. I panicked. All of these factors lead to me being prosecuted, fined and charged so I now have a criminal record.
After all that, this week I left in plenty of time for my train but when jogging across the road, i got tangled up in some kind of metal wire and fell right in front of a moving car. I was very shaken up and hurt but I just wanted to make my train so I wasn't late for work. The train arrived just before i did. i had my money ready to grab a ticket but there was someone being served. i waited til the very last second but made the bad decision of getting on the train. At the other end I queued up and noticed there were extra inspectors. They were taking people to one side who had not purchased a ticket before travel and were issuing Failure to Purchase notes. I knew immediately because I had been in trouble before that this was bad but what I want to know is how bad. Will I go to prison, it says 3 months for some things. I might lose my job as well. I know I was wrong AGAIN! but i was not trying to evade paying the fare, I just can't prove it!!! Any help or advice would be very much appreciated as I'm going out of my mind with worry. I wish I'd been hit by that car now, I'd be better off!!!
