Second interview with SWT

One fast question. I had assesment and interview month ago, RO2S southampton but i was unsuccessfull.Today i had a phone call from SWT and they invite me for interview position RO2 brockenhurst (i apply for 2 positions in same day). What i can expected on that interview? That gonna be simillar like a month ago?

It may be slightly different as ro2s is a supervisor role ( the s bit) where as ro2 is not. Having said that, it depends on what the Brockenhurst position is, as most of the time it is single person staffed, so only have to look after yourself and the demanding do you know who i am new forest and Lymington types.

Ok thank you. But i should be prepared for simillar interview with managers about company etc or what?

I don't know what the interview entails, but obviously you need to have done some research on the company, where the trains go, who owns Swt etc. However, safety is paramount and customer service is very important.

Maybe you should ask for some feedback from the previous interview.

Before, they ask me about company where trains go, who own south west trains, safety, and much more but few days after interview they send me email "unsuccessfull on this ocasion" now after month they call me and invite for a interview again. Im a bit confused l.

The Southampton role would have been 'Safety Critical’; hence this (RO2) interview is not. Contact recruitment if you are unsure, they are friendly and helpful!

RO2S is a supervisory role, RO2S's are only based at large stations with multiple RO2s (I think, but definitely only at larger stations). The RO2 interview will most likely be the same as the RO2S interview but less to do with how you would look after staff and more to do with customer service etc.


Both roles are very much safety critical, the same scenario happened with me, didn't get offered one position but soon after had an interview for another role and got the job as an RO2.

The interview won't be much different at all.

I was under the impression as with all safety critical assessments, if you fail then have to wait 6 months to reapply for the same role!

He hasn't failed the assessments, he was unsuccessful at the interview stage, at least by my reading of the post.

6months difference is internal candidates only or, external if they FAIL the interview or assessments. Failing the interview and not being offered a job is a very different thing. Not many people fail the interview just other candidates get more points than them.

There is no part time job in the railway, tell your roster clerk you're happy to travel and want to do overtime, you will soon be working many more hours.

Also after 6 months you can apply for another full time position internally.

I'm starting a part time as a part time RO in basingstoke, but they said I can have more hours after the training if I want.

You're lucky then.

All training for the RO2 job is in Basingstoke, either platform 1 or at the ROC just down the road
