Second adult on disabled railcard

I am a Disabled Railcard holder. Over the next few weeks I expect to make the following four journeys:

1) London to Liverpool alone
2) Liverpool to London with my wife
3) London to Liverpool with my wife
4) Liverpool to London alone

Journeys 1) and 4) are likely to be more than a month apart, so cannot be combined into a return ticket.

For journey 2), if I travel on the return part of a London to Liverpool return, while my wife travels on the outward part of Liverpool to London return, can she still get the second adult discount? Or must our tickets be identical for her to get the discount?

The rules state that you get a discount for accompanying adults and that they must travel with the Railcard holder. I cannot see anything to suggest that you must have identical tickets, that said, I myself have been refused a discount on a Family Railcard in a similar circumstance (although this was from barrier staff rather than a ticket office), so I think it could be a bit hit and miss, I have never heard of a problem onboard though.

Should be no problem. I’m fairly sure I have travelled on a return with someone using a single ticket before.
