Seating Plan for East Midland Trains

I am trying to find this online with no joy.

I am booking a first class ticket, and want to ensure its a single/individual seat.

Any help gratefully received.

Making a dummy booking on the forum's booking engine brings up a seating plan for the relevant EMR service.

Basically go through the booking process https://tickets.railforums.co.uk to add the ticket to the basket then edit the chosen seat.

It's quite old, dating from 2012 in EMT days, but there's one here - I can confirm the layout hasn't changed since. (Note that the 4-car Meridians are no longer a thing, you'll either be on a 5 car or 7 car. I'd recommend going for the end coach if you're unsure as to which of the two your train will be)

Thanks for that, good tip, and going through that website it confirms they want me to sit at a shared table-for-two.

Sadly when trying to amend that to an individual seat (lots available) I get this error :

Assuming it says 'UnprocessableEntity' if you click on 'Technical details' that'll most likely be because the seat you're choosing has been marked by EMR as non-reservable for that particular service.

If all of the single seats show that message - don't stress too much, in all likelihood you'll be able to get one, First is seldom busy on EMR, aside from peak services in/out of London

Didn’t show anything when clicking for Technical details. Just blank. I tried about 5 different seats across 2 different (1st class) carriages. All the same

You might have got the last ticket in that particular advance tier and hence it's not allowing a change of seat from the default selection?

I booked a 1st off peak return earlier this week via the forum site for travel today St Pancras to Sheffield.
The tickets were split at Leicester and Derby.
For the return journey for some reason the seats booked were different. Sheffield to Leicester was in coach D and Leicester to st Pancras in coach G. On the seat map coach G was greyed out when I tried to amend even though it also said 10 seats available.

Anyway, all academic as when I boarded the train this afternoon all of the 1st class seats said Not Reserved.
I think the unit this morning was also the other way round, as the facing seat shown on my reservation was actually rear facing- the seat in the other side of the table was free so I just used that instead.

EMR are notorious for sets being either way around, so wouldn't every advise trusting the forwards/backwards facing option.

Of all the things to get wound up about, the trains being one way round or the other really isn't one of them. It's not really avoidable on the Midland given how the route and depots are configured - for example a strain could work from London to Derby one evening the "right" way round, then the following morning run from Etches Park to Nottingham and form a Nottingham - London. That turns the set and there is very little you can do about it.

Or even arrive into Sheffield with FC at the London end and being one of those services which depart Sheffield heading north and via Barrow Hill for route knowledge (assuming such things still happen with EMR Intercity)
