Evening all,

Could someone please let me know the number of seats on the following classes:

Class 158 - Are there any differences in the different TOCS?

Class 156 - Are there any differences in the different TOCS?

DRS DBSOs carriages

DRS MkII carriages

TfW, Great Western and Scotrail MkIIs again any difference in the different TOCs?

Thanks in advance.

Class 156s all have the same seating layout regardless of operator. I believe the 158s do too but I’m not 100% certain on that one.

There are three different seating configurations for each type of ScotRail/GWR HST vehicle, the former “low density”, “mid density” and “high density” layouts all surviving. XC’s HSTs have another different seating layout, and the Chiltern Mark 3s another different one on top of that.

The TFW Mark 4s retain the same seating configuration as they had with LNER.

Can’t help with the Mark 2s I’m afraid.

They definitely don't, even within ScotRail there are 2 variations, Northern have about 3.

The DMSL seat any of 62, 64, 66 or 68
The DMS seat 72, 74 or 76

The original arrangement was DMSL 74, DMS 76

158s definitely don't.
About nine variations for 158s.

Class 158 - Are there any differences in the different TOCS?
Yes, several

Class 156 - Are there any differences in the different TOCS?
Again, several

DRS DBSOs carriages
30 Std plus wheelchair

DRS MkII carriages
Mostly former Virgin XC, so 60 or 58 plus wheelchair

TfW, Great Western and Scotrail MkIIs again any difference in the different TOCs?

ScotRail:

Since the refurbishments concluded all of Northern’s 156s have seats in the same configuration, regardless what model of seats they have (Northern do have three seat types as you mention). Same number of tables, same number of airline seats. Admittedly I’m not sure when it comes to tip up seats.

The ScotRail units that venture onto the Tyne Valley have always appeared to have the same seating layout as the Northern units.
