Don't many unstaffed/rural stations have some kind of help/panic button?
I've only seem them primarily in the South and the former NSE area; didn't see many when I was in East Yorkshire last month. Are they common in most rural stations around that area? Usually of the circular type both with and without in-built timetables. I would imagine that CCTV helps the adviser immensely when one of those is pushed though. Certainly, all Southern's stations have CCTV covering the Help Point - even Doleham!
