Seatfrog Secret Fare real life examples

Previously I asked “Is it likely that the cheapest public advance fare available is a good clue to which train you’ll be given?”.

And @Adam Williams said “I suspect it's a pretty good heuristic, though by no means definitive. Do some experiments and post about the findings!”

So here we are:

Origin - Sheffield
Destination - London
Travel window - Morning
Service with cheapest Advance - 1037, 1101, 1137
Seatfrog gave - 1137

Origin - London
Destination - Sheffield
Travel window - Evening
Service with cheapest Advance - 2232
Seatfrog gave - 2232

Any other examples would be welcome!

@DeverseSam. In the examples you've quoted, what were the price difference(s) between say booking directly with the TOC, and using Seatfrog. Was there much of an actual saving?

Yes they advertise 50% and happily that was achieved for me, although I didn’t compare against splits or alternative routes.
