Season ticket validity

Hello,

I have a season ticket which is valid between Amersham and Aylesbury.

Now, I'm wondering, since Amersham is in Zone 9, can I use the same ticket from Chesham (also zone 9)?

My response comes with little route knowledge down that way, but....
For the flexibility you're asking I'd guess you'd need an Aylesbury to Zone 9 season ticket. If your ticket states for travel between those two stations, then that is all it is valid for and as Chesham isn't an intermediate stop, the answer to your question is no it is not valid.
On my Avantix I cannot get an Aylesbury to Zone 9 season so looks like you're stuck really.
Note that a weekly season for Aylesbury to Amersham is
£50.20 and an Aylesbury to Chesham weekly is £53.50. This ticket would be valid to do both as the connection point is the next stop from Amersham, at Chalfont & L underground.

Have you asked if Chiltern sell a dual-availability Season Ticket? I know a number of TOCs offer these for stations that are close together, allowing the user to travel from either one.

The other option is what has been mentioned - buy a Chesham to Aylesbury Season, and you should be able to break your journey at Amersham.

Could you buy an excess ticket? I think it works on distance, and it's possibly free of charge if you present your season ticket at a ticket office?

Not for seasons I'm afraid. The NRCoC does allow you to change between season tickets, but only for tickets with a longer period than a month remaining:

37 Changing one Season Ticket for another
If you hand in a Season Ticket which was valid for one month or more when issued and then buy another Season Ticket for a different journey, you will be entitled to a refund on the original ticket, calculated pro rata to the number of days of validity remaining on the date the ticket is handed in. However, the validity of the new ticket must start on the day after the original ticket is handed in and must be for a period that is at least as long as that of the original ticket when it was issued. You will not have to pay an administrative charge. If you hand in an Electronic Ticket, the new ticket may only be issued at a station which issues Electronic Tickets.
Although refunds are not usually made on duplicate tickets which have been issued to replace lost Season Tickets, applications for refunds for duplicate tickets will be considered under this Condition.
