Hi all,

Can anyone tell me if a season ticket with 'London terminals' will be valid to St Pancras from Wimbledon in South London?

I was sold a season ticket this evening from Wimbledon to 'London terminals' but have heard that crossing London is awkward in terms of ticketing so hoping the ticket is going to let me through the barriers! Cheers

I doubt it, It's definitely valid via Waterloo and Victoria but not sure about any others, possibly London Bridge and Charing X too?

I should mention that I will be travelling direct to St Pancras on First Capital Connect from Wimbledon, not going to Waterloo then trying to use tube etc. Thanks for any help!

How do you get there from Wimbledon? The FCC service does seem to stop at a few London Terminals along the way just as the OP posted, so I can see why it looks logical for a London Terminals season to be valid to one of those!

Thanks for your replies. So it looks as though I've been missold the ticket. I explicitely asked if it would be valid to St Pancras at the ticket booth and on the phone to National Rail, and now I have an £80 ticket that I can't use. I wonder why it even appears as an option on the Season Ticket Calculator on both the Nationa l Rail and FCC websites? Can i exchange it for one that has 'St Pancras' instead of 'London Terminals' printed on it?

Sutton loop.

I'd say this ticket is valid to waterloo, charing cross, london bridge, cannon street, blackfriars and city thameslink - not any of farringdon/st pancras/imperial wharf/kensington olympia etc

As other have said, it's not valid and you risk a Penalty Fare or prosecution if you travel to St Pancras with it. You'll need to return to the ticket office and ask for a 'changeover' to a ticket with destination St Pancras specifically. (in some cases a ticket to West Hampstead is cheaper, I can't check for your journey now). This wove only cost the difference in ticket prices.

There are direct trains to City Thameslink and on to St Albans and Bedford from Wimbledon. London Terminals is only valid as far as City Thameslink from the south.

I'm wondering if it is actually valid - via the Thameslink route (ie Streatham). The NR journey planner is showing a single fare of £3.70 that way - the same as to Waterloo

The fares will be the same as it's zonal pricing, but the destinations will be different- London Terminals or St Pancras

Get the ticket changed to one that states specifically London St Pancras if you intend to go there.

If you do not and you travel on to St Pancras without an additional ticket you risk a Penalty Fare (of £20) every time.

Tickets to London Terminals are not valid to, from or via Farringdon on Thameslink (First Capital Connect) services.

The flip-side is that you won't be able to go into charing cross or cannon street with this ticket, but I assume Wimbledon-clapham-waterloo-waterloo east-london bridge-blackfriars-st pancras would be fine (and to exit the station at any of them) in addition to via elephant. Not 100% sure though.

Tickets to London Terminals are not valid to, from or via Farringdon on Thameslink (First Capital Connect) services.

The source for this is from National Rail Enquiries:
Please note that ‘London Terminals’ tickets do not permit travel between City Thameslink, Farringdon and St Pancras International on the First Capital Connect ‘Thameslink’ route. Such journeys will require a ticket either to the named station or to a destination of ‘London Thameslink’ or to 'Zone U1'.

Agreed - Journey planners show Wimbledon-Waterloo/East-Bridge-St P (not on LU services) as a route available on one ticket, so should allowing break of journey at Waterloo, East and London Bridge if so desired. Can't see ending at Charing Cross or Cannon Street being valid.

So if I was to change my "London Terminals" season ticket to one specifically for St Pancras (which hopefully they won't quibble about in the morning), then I should be also be able to exit/enter at Waterloo as an added bonus?

They should have no problem doing the changeover. If they mention anything about refunding and reissuing, politely mention (or take a printout from) NRE where it describes changeovers.

I would also make a point that you specifically requested St P and were sold a ticket not valid for that journey- if they can get a reminder about the Thameslink route validities sent round the office it might prevent the same happening to someone else (who may not double check that it's valid as you have).

Your ticket will be valid at Waterloo, or any other station on a permitted route to St P.

The ticket you need is from Wimbledon (5578) to London St Pancras (1555) route Not Underground (208).

It costs £21.30 for a weekly, £81.80 for a monthly or £852 for an annual.

You cannot obtain a changeover if there is less than one month remaining on your season ticket.

I would request a refund without the admin fee being charged on the basis that the wrong ticket was sold.

A ticket between Wimbledon and London Terminals is valid to any of Victoria, Waterloo, Charing Cross, London Bridge, Cannon Street and any Thameslink stations up to and including City Thameslink. A London Terminals ticket cannot be used to pass Farringdon on the Thameslink route so is not valid to St Pancras.

You need the ticket mentioned by John @ Home above.

Dear all, many thanks for all your replies on this subject, it has been most helpful.

I managed to change my ticket this morning to 'Wimbledon' to 'St Pancras' for use on FCC trains without too much fuss, thankfully! I also mentioned that it is quite confusing for both NR and FCC websites to offer two tickets at the same price: 'Wim' to 'Stp' and 'Wim' to 'London Terminals' even though the 2nd is not valid for use past City Thameslink.
