I've got an annual season ticket that I bought online from First Capital Connect that has just expired, which I used to travel on FCC and Southern trains. I'll be renewing it at a southern station, so will I be entitled to a discount off my new season ticket, or should I have been claiming for delays from FCC's Delay Repay scheme? What about if it was a Southern train that was delayed?

(I know Southern have also moved to Delay Repay, but only after my season ticket was purchased, so if FCC weren't involved Delay Repay wouldn't be a factor).

It depends what Charter Service Group your current season ticket is allocated to.

If it's allocated to FCC, then it's a Delay Repay job. If it's Southern (but not a Gatwick Express flow), then you're due 2 void days (2nd and 3rd February) if you haven't had them already, but no further charter discount.

Charter service group? It's Brighton Mainline (Brighton - Burgess Hill), and the performance has been terrible this year, what with the introduction of the 377s and the FCC dispute. Surely that's bad enough to trigger the discount?

Southern don't seem to have published performance figures on their website recently, but a look at the Passengers Charter leaflet shows a punctuality target of 84% for Sussex Coast services, and 87% for South London, and a discount would only be triggered if the Moving Annual Average falls below that level.

The published figures for Period 0709 (which ended on 17th October) give an MAA of 85.2% for Punctuality, and 99.1% for Reliability, and the two void days from February.

Cheers,

Ooops - it's a franchise commitment to publicise perfomance figures around 10 days after the end of period....

Does that still apply under "Delay Repay"? (Which Southern switched to in September). Though I suspect it's more cock up (in that the website hasn't been updated) than franchise obligation failure, though I haven't been anywhere in Southern land for a while so I can't comment on whether they're still displaying the posters.

NXEA have got a good performance page showing daily, four weekly and MAA figures.

Cheers,

Barry
