Season ticket plus rover valid before 0845?

Here’s a bit of a conundrum….

Next week I’m hoping to use a Coasts & Peaks Rover to travel from Sheffield to the Merseyside area; on weekdays the rover is only valid after 0845 and, annoyingly, there is a train that leaves Sheffield at exactly 0845 to Liverpool so if the restriction is applied strictly then the first train the rover would be valid on is the 0943, an hour later.

However I also have a Leeds-Dore season ticket for work purposes and I was wondering if that would enable me to travel on the 0845. This train doesn’t actually call at Dore but will pass through it around 0850, by which time technically the rover would be valid. As I understand it, if you’re using split ticketing then, so long as one of the tickets is a season ticket, then the train doesn’t have to stop at the point of your split. However, were I to try this, is there a chance the guard could refuse to accept this ticket combination because, if the rover’s only valid after 0845 then technically it wouldn’t be valid until its first calling point after 0845, which in this case would be Stockport?

Any advice would be very much appreciated!

If memory serves, the Coast and Peaks Rover was traditionally treated as having a "B4" restriction, which would make it valid from 0845 (or, more accurately, "Not valid on trains timed to depart after 04:29 and before 08:45"). Though it might be worth Tweeting or e-mailing East Mids just to confirm whether they'd accept the Rover on its own on the 0845 departure.

NRE says valid "Travel any 4 days in 8. After 08.45 Monday - Friday."
As it doesn't say "departing after" your argument is OK.

However both Northern and railrover.org say "valid from 0900" (I can't find it at all on BRFares.com ) so you might have bother for that reason.

@CyrusWuff the FONE/FONW tickets now carry B3 (0900) so I suspect this one does too.

So my question is therefore obselete and, given that TPE currently have removed their 0911 Manchester train from the timetable, that means the first train the rover will be valid on is indeed the 0943 Sheffield to Liverpool.

A couple of points.
The national Rail site still says 0845. If it really has changed then it’s pretty appalling that they haven’t bothered to change it on the official page. As such I’d argue that unquestionably means it’s valid from after 0845. I realise this doesn’t necessarily help. However…..

A) it’s not a “timed to depart” restriction so if you’re at the station and the train is running late then you could catch it anyway.

B)your season ticket combination works

C)At the absolute outside you could ask the guard on the day if you’re there in time for it and hang around if not.
