I'm asking this on behalf of a non-forum member who has asked me for some advice as a former station manager. Unfortunately I have been away from the retail side for 14 years so my knowledge is both rusty and potentially out of date, so I thought I'd canvas opinion here.
She has been told by her manager that she is calculating season ticket changeovers incorrectly. She has 22 years booking office experience and believes she is right and the manager is wrong. Her understanding (and mine as far as I can remember) is that for tickets of less than 12 months validity, when calculating base rate all whole months are counted as 30 days, regardless of their actual length. However, when calculating the remaining validity of the original ticket (ie the period of validity for the new ticket) the actual number of remaining days is used.
The manager claims that all months are rounded to 30 days for both the base rate and validity calculations.
Can anyone shed any light on this? Who is right?
