Like I said, I was about five when I went to Morpeth. I got in the Jaguar with my grandparents, remembered seeing A1 signs for Morpeth and then a beach and sea! Though having seen that map I do recall Newbiggin. It was a long time ago though!

My favorite resort that I have visited is probably Scarborough, though I haven't stopped there in years. Robin Hoods Bay, Saltburn, Whitby and Runswick Bay are quite nice too. Brodick is nice, on the Isle of Arran. Seaton Carew (Hartlepool is a bit of a dump, but Hartlepol Headland is ok.
I wouldn't say there were any coastal resorts on the Durham coast, just beaches. Easington, Horden and Blackhall are old colliery villages, the only exceptions are Seaham, which i wouldn't realyy class as a resort and Crimdon caravan park, which is nothing of what it used to be. There are some nice places along the beach there though, such as Hawthorn Hive between Seaham and Easington and Blackhall rocks-Crimdon beach. Horden-Blackhall beach is a dump. Colliery waste is still there, same for Blast beach at Seaham.
