Last time I saw 66048 was off the A52 bridge looking at Toton depot at the start of January. From what I could make out it was still in the same state as when it was taken there after the Carrbridge incident.

Does anybody know what is happening to it then?

Thanks for the infor chaps on these 3 - 66's!.. In the case of 66104 being up in Scotland! I guess we all know that these days, they go anywhere!! In steam days of course, to see a Scottish engine down here would have had the jungle drums going like the clappers.. Now you only have to track the journeys of 66152 (The Red 'un!) To see how they get about now!!! Amazing photos of the derailament to 66048!!! I assume the points failed there to cause that? TA

Locos between 66099 to 66114 are regularly situated in Scotland, as they are the locos fitted with RETB units for working over the Highland lines. They do of course get pretty much everywhere else in Britain as well, but Scotland is their regular haunt, which is about as close as you get to freight locos being allocated to a particular region these days (As well as 66055 to 66059 which are the Lickey banking locos, though once again, not exclusively).

If I remember rightly, 66048 failed with frozen brakes at Carrbridge during a period of particularly adverse weather, and over ran the trap points at the end of the loop.

And as a perfect example 66112 was at Southampton Docks this week!

Good luck with your search - I have 66114 (another 'Scottish' one) as my last Uk based red shed... she's in Exeter right now tho!

I would recommending a free gen group such as http://finance.groups.yahoo.com/group/se-gen/

Lots of TOPS lists and movement reports and easy to post your own sighting reports to

Dont get me started on 152 :) that thing follows me on a regular basis since it got painted. I saw it in Doncaster a while back, the following week it was down in the Gloucester area every day, then it disapeared only to return, never had a loco follow me as much as that and 60074 :D
