Can anyone please provide me with further details about this ticket? There doesn't seem to be much info online regarding this and I don't live in SE land.

You used to only be able to get day returns within the former Network SouthEast area which cost slightly more than a single. The Weekender was introduced so that passengers staying overnight in London (for example) wouldn't have to buy two singles.

Weekender tickets allow you to travel off-peak on a Friday or Saturday and return on the Saturday or Sunday for a little more than a normal off-peak return. Buy one ticket instead of two singles and make a trip to the coast or an overnight stay in town easier and cheaper.
