SE Trainee Driver - awaiting MMI

Hi guys and gals,

First time posting a thread on this forum. I was wondering if it was possible to get some advice about the interview process regarding a Trainee Train Driver position? I passed my Psychometric Test with a TOC almost seven weeks ago now and when I was told I had passed the recruitment manager asked me my local depot and where I lived. He said that there were vacancies at the Depot and would be in touch. After two weeks I sent him and follow up email and he said that the next stage would be a drivers assessment with the MMI and he will contact me to arrange it. Five weeks on and I still haven’t received any communication from him. Is this a normal time frame for a Trainee Train Driver position?

When I started my course chatting to others, time frames varied, my time from applying to starting was 9 months, one guy was close to 3 years. So yea I’d say it’s completely normal not to hear yet.

And seeing from your profile you’re from swanscombe I imagine you’re looking at dartford or slade green? Plenty of jobs going but also plenty of people waiting in the same boat as you so may be a case of them working down the list

What interview is it? MMI or DMI? Did you sit one the day you did you assessments?

Nah, only the psychometric test. In the email he said that that it will be a MMI.

Not too much to revise with an MMI as it’s more about you. The interviewer will ask a time you done something. Then hammer questions to you like “why did you do that” “how did it make you feel” “could you have done it this way” sort of thing and they will have a curve ball questions for whatever you reply. They will pressure you on purpose to see how you react

I thought SE still do the entire selection psychometrics in the same day. From the sounds of it..

I thought SE still do the entire selection psychometrics in the same day. From the sounds of it..

It was for Southeastern. There were paper tests and computer tests.

Not too much to revise with an MMI as it’s more about you. The interviewer will ask a time you done something. Thanks very much for your help. I’ve bought a couple of books and exercises off of how2become just to help me prepare for the style of questions. I’ve been revising information about the TOC and what their goals are just in case questions like that come up. Then just times in which I have had to put safety in the forefront of my attention, had to work as part of a team, had to concentrate for extended periods, communicate difficult messages, and deliver great customer service. I feel there’s no harm in being prepared but ultimately I understand they can throw something at me to which I’m not prepared for.

Information about the toc, times you’ve delivered excellent customer service, and putting safety first ect are more of things they ask in the DMI so try not to worry about that just yet, get yourself through the MMI, like I said can’t really revise for MMI. do you know if Harry is doing it?

Ah, maybe I got confused because at the end of the Psychometric test he said that will be more more stage to the interview process. In the documents they sent us before the Psychometric test it definitely seemed like we were going to be completing a MMI on the same day as there was a whole section to look at. Perhaps because it was a large group they decided to do that part of the interview another day? The only information I have from the email is that the next stage would be a drivers assessment so I guess Harry could be the one doing it. No idea what they mean by driver’s assessment. From what you’ve put as far as I’m aware all you’ve got left to do it the 2 interviews
