SE class 377 transfers to Southern

Hello all, thought it would be a good idea to create a thread for the SE 377 moves to Southern. So far 163/164 have transferred with some more expected to follow apparently. This thread will be used to keep track of what’s happening

Apparently another 12x 377/5s are due to go over later this year, leaving 11 at Southeastern. I presume 163 and 164 were easy to transfer across now, firstly as there's only 2, and secondly and probably more significant, they are still in Southern livery overall, and only the operator logos on the sides will need changing.

Gonna be interesting to see what happens with the Maidstone line. When the 377 units entered service there was a press release on the southeastern website. Can’t see many people being happy with it reverting back to 465/466 operation in the near future

I looked for the farewell tour train on RTT so I could see what time it roughly passes my neighbourhood but it doesn't appear to be up there. Am I being thick?

In the same thread quoted above the 2x 377s that have just left are apparently altering Chatham Mainline stoppers that a couple of 377s were on, which will see 465s take over there, but the Maidstone East line won't see them return there until later this year. The 465s going back to the MDE line will be replaced by the remaining 707s yet to come over from SWR, so in terms of interior aesthetic, it's a case of one group of commuters gets better, another group gets a bit worse off. That said while the 377s provided longer services and some more tables, at SE they have poorer interior comfort than 375s, due to looking more tatty, and half of the train has 2+3 seating with no arm rests.

It also means that the inners presumably lose the 465/9s which are the nicest of the Networkers inside

On a slightly related note, noticed that the wheelchair ramps at Hurst Green and Oxted have been re-labelled as 377/387/171 (my bold).

Just to confirm, they have been relabelled rather than replaced? They are the same ramp so wouldn’t be surprised if any replacements featured ‘387’ just to provide a universal application

Not sure, however the inclusion of 377 and 171 does suggest Southern specific.

According to various posts in other threads the latest idea seems to be that about half (12/23) will transfer. No idea how firm that info is, but it seems fairly widespread, eg posts #667/668 in the 455 thread here:

An internal memo stated 12 class 377/5s would be transferring, plus 163 and 164, no mention of the rest.
