In curious, on say a HST equipped with CDL or SDO how much force would be required to actually open a door at speed? I see people leaning on and often out of them and wonder what would open one. Also, what would happen if one did open? Aside from the obvious splat of body parts down the side of the coach...would it cause an alarm or some sort of brake action? Also, is the system speed related, ie if a guard forgets to lock the doors will the system lock at a certain speed or just do nothing?

The bolts on the CDL on Mk3s are pretty substantial (about 20mm in diameter), they lock into the large housings above the window. You'd need a lot of force to break that!

On our units they will roll until 9mph before the ssf ( slow speed function) kicks in and dumps the break in forward or reverse and no interlock, it's 4 mph when the train is in neutral even with interlock to stop trains rolling away.
