Scunthorpe - Edale Return

A gentleman has approached our rail group asking about cheap tickets / split tickets to travel from Scunthorpe to Edale, traveling on either a Saturday or Sunday.

The gentleman in question is a keen walker and so is not after advanced tickets from Scunthorpe to Sheffield Midland on TPE as weather wise he may have to return early.

What advantages would a derbyshire wayfarer give him as we understood that if he wanted to go to Castleton as well on his trip he could use the bus from Bamford ?

There's definitely a CDR Cleethorpes to Chinley for £21.60, I couldn't find cheaper than that when I did the Brigg line.

An offpeak day return from Scunthorpe to Edale is £17. I haven't spotted any obvious splits. It would be valid for return from Bamford (or Hope or Hathersage) but not on the buses. As a Scunthorpe-Sheffield ticket is £15, and a Derbyshire Wayfarer, which gives validity from Sheffield onwards, is £12 (or £6 for over-60s), it is not obvious what advantage the Wayfarer gives over paying a single bus fare from Castleton to Bamford (unless that bus journey is definitely going to be made and the fare is more than £10/£4).
