Next year's Higher and Advanced Highers exams are to be cancelled in Scottish schools, it has been confirmed.
Education Secretary John Swinney said the decision was based on the disruption that Covid has caused to the education system rather than safety concerns.
The move means that pupils' final grades will be based on the judgement of their teachers.

This now means we have a situation where school leavers will be going to university having ever sat a single exam... madness.

Why is pupil fairness important this year? In other years, some pupils are off for a period of time, or private schools give a better quality of education, yet all pupils sit the same exams. That’s not fair surely?

This now means we have a situation where school leavers will be going to university having ever sat a single exam... madness.
S6’s this year will have sat exams as normal in 2019. Doesn’t get away from the madness of it though.
