Hi there

During my upcoming stay in the Lake District, I'll be off exploring the network of Central Scotland.

Does anyone know what services the small amount of 158's with original BR seats work up there, especially ex-SWT 158786 (does it's original interior remain?)

Thanks,
Jim.

I believe it now has, or shortly will have, Arriva seats with saltire coverings and saltire carpets - as 158782 now has.

158782 was the only one left with original interior but is now refurbished. No others remain.

The 'foreign' 8 will work any Haymarket diagram along with 726-736/738-741, so Fife circle, Edinburgh-Dunblane, Shotts route, Edinburgh-Perth. They did cover the Glasgow C-Whifflet turns, but since Cumbernauld/Motherwell went electric, I'm not sure if this has continued. They occasionally head off north, but the few Edinburgh-Aberdeen/Inverness turns booked for 158s are fairly solid IS allox ones, to get them to/from base.

Best place to catch one? Haymarket or Waverley.

Will the 5 ex Alphaline 158s also receive new carpets?

Are there any plans to refurbish the Haymarket National Express ScotRail refurbished 158s with the same interior as the highland fleet?

The ex-SWT 158 was one half of yesterday's 1045 INV-EDB and has been the last three times I've used that service. An hour late yesterday due to an NRN radio fault too!

I've no idea if it's the original interior but it's certainly not a Scotrail one!

Its to be hoped that all Haymarket 158s get a tidy up given there iminant use on the borders link. If this does not happen the media, fare paying pax and those not in favour of the line will have a field day when a nackered NX refurbed unit drops onto there new shiny service!↲

Not from what I've heard. Wouldn't be surprised if some of the old SPT Turbostars were sent down there in the first wee bit.

whats your thinking on this?

Don't think the 158s will be refurbed unless Transport Scotland make the new franchisee do it. From a PR and attracting passengers point of view, it would make much more sense to put more spacious 170s on.
