Just got the email to book the assessment centre. Only one date given and its next week and is extremely short notice. Going to be impossible to get the day off for it. Dunno what to do? Should I email the recruitment team and ask to be put in the next assessment centre or is that not wise?

Pretty much every stage of the assessment centres is like this, you won’t get much notice I’m afraid
I’d agree I got 3 days notice for stage 2 and only one time slot/date available.
A case of if you want in enough You will need to make it I’m afraid.

Has anyone ever been offered a course at a different depot as there isn’t any course dates for the depot they interviewed at? If so did you take it or knock it back ? Particularly if the distance was right on the 45 minute commute?

Hi,

I’ve applied the same as you but after the 6 weeks I got an email saying.

“Due to the high volume of applications across a number of locations, our initial shortlisting stage is taking longer than originally anticipated. As a result, the timing of progress may vary depending on your chosen location and we will aim to provide an update within 12 weeks”

You sure you’ve not missed an email from them? I got that email on the 5th of May.

Cheers
Hello, thanks for replying to my post. Yeah i received the same email. Keep checking my spam/junk mail but nothing yet. Just need to hold on and see as reading the threads on here it seems to take a while. Fingers crossed we hear something soon.

In the same boat, been waiting since December last year, according to someone I know who drives out of Ayr there have only been 3 started this year from there- 2 were internals and the one that wasnt waited 21 months from final interview to starting his course- doesn't mean that would follow suit for us but was still a kick in the you know whats- he did offer a little hope by saying they are running courses fairly regularly going forward though

Scroll back through this chat and you’ll get plenty of hints and tips. Also look at your email to see what your next stage is to ensure you practice for the correct thing.

Thanks for that update, it is useful, especially someone on the inside giving realistic updates. Just have to keep waiting! One day…….

Finish my work at Craigentinny this week, before I start my course in a couple of weeks. Can’t believe it’s rolled around already. Flown in.

It will be your DMI then if you’ve only done stage 1.
I know a few people that went through it Glasgow based some did stage 1,stage 2 then MMI and DMI
Others done stage 1,then DMI.

Thank you! I’ve seen mixed things about how the process goes on here so wasn’t 100% sure.

No worries one friend was told at his stage 1 if successful it would either be stage 2 or DMI.Apparently it’s to speed the process up 1/2 people who pass go to stage 2 and other DMI.

My email directly mentioned DMI, As previous passed the first stage. (Years ago with a different company) So potentially why just mentioned DMI Straight up, as emailed to query originally with a date.

A question for the ones who applied in march 2024(or earlier),passed everything and who have already been waiting months on a medical and start date- how confident or otherwise are you of definitely getting a start at some point?
I applied then, passed everything and was put in a pool, I finally got word around 6 weeks ago to go for my medical and yesterday I received my onboarding docs and contract. So please don’t lose hope. Easier said than done, I’m going to Dumfries station
