I’ve got an interview at my local station/depot after passing the first assessment. Any ideas what sort of thing gets asked?
Was this afyer the Aon or Tea-occ? Also how did you get on with the i terrier?

Did mine earlier and oh my it’s an experience.

I applied via a speculative application after a recruitment event last year and was asked to do the online tests this week.
How did you get on?

Just seen some interesting statistics about training in a company newsletter sent out today. Apparently in the last 12 months since Jan 2025 the training academy has delivered courses for 184 trainee drivers and also 61 new driving instructors.

I got an email yesterday asking if I was still interested in the position and if I’d had a change in address etc.

First contact I’ve had from them since I passed my final stage in November. At first I thought it was just a generic email but had my name etc on it, so I’m taking that as a positive sign that things might be starting to move.
I received a txt saying the same but did have a link to reply so I ended up emailing the recruiter. Hopefully there’s movement now

Scotrail now advertising - Trainee Train Driver(Talent Bank)
Just seen this and had a look. Only a handful of depots but all for talent bank. A new recruitment format and if you pass on talent bank for a maximum of 2 years, if no position for you in those 2 years your out the pool. I’ve email for confirmation that this isn’t the case for those who have already completed the process/currently in it (I know it’s late on a Friday but wasn’t leaving it)

The reason for this is that Scotrail have an ever increasing (over 300) drivers who could, theoretically, retire at any time. People who have gone part time, over 40 years service, long term medical issues etc.. Therefore they want a bank of people who they can call on to get started ASAP should anyone go. The problem is these people may or may not leave imminently so the timescale is open ended.

Is having something like a 3 month notice period in my current role going to be an issue, should I pass everything?

Hi all just wondering if scotrail is a company that considers anyone who would relocate. As a single man with no kids no commitments that would prevent my from relocating, I haverail experience and passed psychiatrics would they look at my application if I said I’m perfectly happy to relocate

Has anyone had to reset password on My scotrail? Mine had to be reset and it says you have 0 applications.

I have it saved elsewhere but wondered if it will look like a brand new applicant. ( I was a March 24 application, Online tests Nov 24, assessments Jan 25, DMI March 25 and failed 2nd assessments April 25). Going to apply now for talent bank and it's been a year since tests so can resit now.
Thanks

I had to reset mine tonight but when I log back in I can see my application from March 2024 still there. I’ve also reapplied to the new vacancy.

I was similar situation to you, failed 2nd assessment in September and was told on an email I would only need to wait 6 months before trying again.

Not to sure if you would pick up from where you failed, that’s what I was led to believe but not sure if it’s a new vacancy.
Cheers

I was told it used to be 6 months but had only just changed to a year . Was told to reapply when advertised but would not wouldn't need to sit first stages again. I'd go back to 2nd tests , so will see.

I think so as long as within 45 mins distance to your home.

Passed my DMI start of December which was the last stage, yet to do medical etc. but was under the impression I'd be joining this year at some point as that's what I had been told at every stage of the recruitment.

Just received an email saying I've been added into a talent bank. Bit of a boot in the stones if I'm honest.

Just had same email, not really sure what to do. Is this a positive move or just more hanging around for a post that may never appear. Applied in March 2024, been a long road to nowhere

Also received the email regarding the talent pool, passed my final testing for Yoker on the 10th of October. Not sure what this means for starting or if I should be booking holidays for summer now. Again no clearance of that given. Head down for now.

I too have had the talent pool email. I’m hoping it’s just a generic update as there is still no dates set for courses. Hopefully clarity is given for peace of mind as it is a bit deflating

Looks like a generic email to everybody (unless anyone has not received it). I don't think anything will have actually changed but agree it was disappointing to receive at this point.

I do believe it’s a generic email to give a brief update, as you may have seen they have opened up applications for certain depots for the talent bank. That shows they will begin to clear the current one (us) which has been shown with Motherwell and corkerhill.

Received the talent bank email also this afternoon ( Yoker )
Can anyone confirm that if two years lapses, that we'd have to reapply and re-sit all assessments?

If the depot is listed on the talent bank that we're supposed to be going to, are we supposed to apply for it? I assume not, I just don't want to miss out. Cheers

I may be wrong in assuming that the depot vacancy's listed on the ScotRail website I.e Yoker etc will progress quickly, and they're looking for more applicants for these depots for a bunch of drivers after us. Why would they be looking for more applicants when we're already in a pool and waiting to drive?

Can anyone provide any clarity or opinion? Thanks again

Assuming you applied in March 2024. My view on this is that the recruitment campaign is now complete and we are all in the talent bank. This is the new recruitment campaign now being more transparent that there are no vacancies and if successful you will be put into a talent bank the same as all March 24 applicants. Again just my view that March 24 campaign will be talent bank 1 ready for any vacancies for 26/27 and March 2026 campaign - Talent bank 2 for future vacancies. This is what i am taking from it all. Happy for anyone to add or correct any of this.

Cheers

I’m thinking (more out of hope I can’t lie) that it’s just a generic email to those who are next in line. Maybe it’s just a line they have to spout while they’re organising courses?

A far reach I know but you never know
