When did you sit them? I had mine 2 weeks ago. The woman was saying it depends when you sat stage 1. (I forget dates) but if it’s pre a certain date you can apply in 6 months but if it’s post that date you have to wait a year. So she said.
I sat the 2nd assessment 2 weeks ago on 24/9, it was Suzanne that took it and I can vaguely remember her mentioning something along the lines of the timescales for re applying.
I think I’ll give them an email see if they can clear it up for me.
I just want to know what part I’ve messed up on, I’m pretty certain it would have been the ATAVT part.

To be fair it could be that or the joysticks. Either were tricky.

Yes, I had the DMI after the 1st set of assessments.
I think they are possibly trying out the new procedures of the recruitment process, as the way my 2nd assessment day was worked, they can only get 2-4 people. Whereas if they get a whole room in for the assessments, then they can work out the requied MMIs from that.
This is my assumption anyway.
The new process sounds much better imo,
I found the 2nd stage assessment day a very long day and exhausting (as it probably should be)
One of the main benefits I can see is it gives you time to practice and focus solely for the MMI, knowing you have passed all the other stages

did they tell who was interviewing you ?
I think the way it works in "normal ops" is computer tests first, then if you pass you complete the pre MMI questionaire, to hand in, and then are sent home. You're then invited to the MMI properly with the 6 questions you briefly answered on paper at the stage 2 day.

Essentially you'll get to discuss the 6 questions you answered on the pre interview questionnaire. 1 to 1 interview with one of the HR guys, very unpressured, prompts for STAR format etc. They incorporate further questions after each topic based on your SJT responses, along the lines of how did you feel, how do you manage conflict, following rules. The SJT answers give them something to probe but they're definitely not trying to catch you out.

That was nothing like my MMI experience unfortunately.
Very pressured , interviewer came across as nervous himself, long pauses so he could consult his notes, I did get the further questions on each topic , and at one point I was talking about how I deal with difficult colleagues, which wasn’t part of any of the topics, I was asked ‘how did I feel’ at irrelevant points in the conversation
The length of time also varies wildly, I was in well over an hour, the other 2 candidates only 30-40 minutes

Maybe they were trying to put pressure on you by confusing you and frustrating you to see if you kept composure. I did hear that some interviewers become really irritating but that's heresay
Yeah i often wonder if that was the case, I thought I kept composure but it was a very strange and difficult experience,
I was expecting the ‘how did it make you feel ‘questions , but not to the extent I was asked.

At the risk of shaming myself here, I sadly fell down at the dots exercise. I know in myself I didn't practice enough on them. Going to assessment one has made me want this more than ever.
In their email they have said we invite you to re apply in future (6 months).
My question here is, has anyone else been in this situation, and is it apply from the start, or just apply for another assessment date. Hoping it's the latter

Unfortunately not and it still bothers me
I haven't been in your situation,
You will start at the position you finished, so you will have to retake the Part 1 tests again. Also, I am led to believe that it will be 12 months before you can reapply, not 6. The rules were changed by the RSSB as of December 2024.
Also, practise, practise and practise been some more.
You only get 3 shots at the tests in total, if you fail all 3 attempts, you are deemed not suitable as per the RSSB guidelines.

The email definitely says 6 months, and I'm sure they said on the day that the new rules are 6 months then 1 year then 5 years then out.
But that's good to hear that it's step back in where I fell out.
And yes, practice, practice, practice and more practice

This was the same as me. Already had DMI and had 2nd tests roughly a month later with 2 days notice. I was told on the day what i failed on. Tbh I thought it would have been traffic one as I didn't do well at home with practise ones for these. However I got 100% for that one and passed all 3 tests on accuracy. It was the speed on the grey squares which was only marginally below a pass. So was very close and felt a bit harsh. 2 out of the 3 tests have a speed score as well as an accuracy score. So really 5 scores. They told me to come back. She was unsure if I'd need to do DMI again (this can vary) but not apply from beginning. I applied March 24 but my 1st assessment day was Jan 25 so I only just miss the 6 months and need to wait the year. Been emailing ever since to see if I can do it any sooner but no reply. Good luck next time.

Passed all assessments and MMI, failed DMI. Try again in 6 months, I’ve asked for feedback on DMI so hopefully can pass next time
