Hi all.

I passed DMI a few weeks ago and in terms of next stage one of the DM's advised next step was assessment centre and the other said at a different time that it was the Manager's Interview.

Looking at some recent comments I'm thinking the next step is the second stage assessment centre followed by MMI on same day...does that seem right?
Congrats on your successful DMI. The next stage will be the computer tests, and if successful, followed by the MMI. Both at the assessment centre, and on the same day.

Yes that’s right. You’ll have your computerised assessments and if you pass them you’ll then have your final interview on the same day.

That’s correct 3 computer tests & MMI on the same day if you pass the computer side of the assessments.

That’s right. You do computer assessments in the morning and if successful you do your mmi in the afternoon.

Thanks very much.

In terms of the MMI, I've seen some chat about the Q's potentially also being structured i.e. competency and situational based - which my DMI Q's were also.

Does that seem right that there is a bit or mirroring of the type of Q's you an get at the MMI to that of the DMI ? (a guide I've been using seemed to indicate the Managers Interview Q's would be more of a traditional interview i.e. why I want the job, what do I know about the role and the company and not so much competency/situational ?

yes that’s correct.
Second assessments on the computers, then if you pass you get the MMI same day just after.

That was correct as of the last few months, then if you pass it’s medical.

I'm Lanarkshire based. I sent an email a few days ago and I got the following reply:

"We are still working through these applications and inviting candidates in for assessment days at the areas where we have vacancies at this time.

Again apologies for the delay and thank you for your patience."

The wait continues
I am in the same predicament as yourself and the two posters you have quoted.

It can be very frustrating, as I know of others who applied after myself, for Glasgow, one has already passed everything and starts in June, the other got his invite to the first assessment centre today.

There does not appear to be any rhyme or reason as to how they process the applicants in the pool for the assessment centre.

Yeah that's right after DMI you'll move onto 2nd assessment centre, if you pass the tests you'll move onto the MMI the same day.

While it is frustrating, I'm taking the positive. With a seven month old, a new job in the last few months - and one as learning intensive as this - would have been massive. So at least this way the wee one will be a little older when I [hopefully] have a big jump.

I'm fortunate to be in a job I don't hate and happy to be here for the next while.

But some regular updates/news wouldn't go amiss

Everyone's situation is different I suppose, but the lack of communication isn't good, plus I really do not like the job I do anymore.

But there is no point moving anytime soon, as it will unsettled myself and is unfair on any future employer.

Hopefully a date comes up sooner rather than later for my situation.

Hello I am unable to message anyone individually first. Just looking for any information to assist with my first assessment centre?

Thanks

Anybody waiting on medical which are Glasgow based ?. I’ve sent Matheus over an email but had no response as of yet. Just wondering if anyone has been lucky enough to receive a response back if you’ve emailed him asking the question.

Hey,

My assessment centre is coming up, as my previous tests have expired after 5 years. I want to make sure I can recall the test correctly, and I'm practising the correct tests.

TRP1 is a passage/story where you answer questions after reading it?
TRP2 is Dials/pie chart with an arrow or colour priority for checking?

Yeah that's exactly right.

Hi everyone, wondering if you could potentially answer this question.

Currently going through the trainee train driver process. Passed stage 1, DMI , stage 2 & MMI thankfully.

On sitting the last assessment and receiving the pass email, it doesn’t say I’m been put into a talent pool.
This is what it says….

Good Afternoon,

I trust this finds you well.

Thank you for attending the ScotRail assessment centre for the role of Trainee Train Driver, Scotland [SYS-1590]

I am delighted to inform you that you have been successful, congratulations.

The recruitment team will be in touch to advise you of the next steps in the recruitment process.

Does this mean medical, disclosure, references then job offer ?.

You need to chill out a bit.. You have passed everything so far, you have got a nice positive email telling you great news and that the recruitment team will contact you in due course. Have a beer and celebrate receiving an email that most won’t get and await contact. If maybe 8 weeks or so go by and you hear nothing, perhaps a little gentle reminder email to recruitment may be worth it, but don’t pee them off by constant badgering them for updates (my opinion, but don’t think it will help).

If all is done and passed, then once you hear back it’s likely then a medical to attend. Well done by the way!

i don't think there is any mention formally of a pool. I waited 5 months for my DMI and believe that was partly due to being 'pooled'. I know there were 2 new drivers being trained at my depot at the time and reckon there was no capacity for taking on any new recruits. But I've also heard they intend on taking on 3 more at some point, so I'm preparing for another wait.

Can anyone give me an outline of the training ? What’s the hours and days off typically. Do you get any holidays or time off scheduled? What’s the training salary. I’m in the end of the house buying process at the moment, any info would be grand.
