I have just been invited to DMI at Glasgow central for a week today. Slightly confused but happy none the less as at the end of the test centre I am sure we were told this interview would be at your local depot which is Dumfries for me.

Good luck with your DMI, I’m still waiting to get a date for assessment date 1. Hopefully hear something soon.

Hi all, has anyone here done a resit of the computer assessment's ?

My question is, do you have to resit all 3 tests again or just the one you failed ? As would be good to know for prep.

I would mail and ask, but i think we all know just how busy they are.

Thanks in advance.
I’m in process of waiting on a date to resit mine. As far as I’m aware you need to resit all 3

Hi guys. So I have been recently told that I have been successful in all tests and interviews and have been given a start date of early December.

I just want to share some info for some people that are going through the process and not to become to disheartened when having to wait so long between each stage.

Detailed below is all the dates of tests and interviews. I know these will be different for each candidate but might put some folks minds at ease.

08/03/24 initial application sent
13/03/24 invite to sit OPC online test
22/03/24 invite to sit 2nd OPC online test
14/05/24 email to confirm that I had passed 2nd online test
25/06/24 invite to assessment centre received
01/07/24 sat 1st lot of assessments at atrium court
08/07/24 email received to say that I had passed 1st lot of assessments
12/08/24 email received to invite me for managers interview
20/08/24 managers interview
22/08/24 email to confirm that I had passed managers interview
22/08/24 invite to assessment centre for part 2 of tests
28/08/24 sat 2nd lot of assessments
29/08/24 email to confirm that I had passed 2nd lot of assessments
03/09/24 medical completed
30/09/24 email to confirm that I passed medical
02/10/24 email to confirm start date

As you can see it has been a long process so please don’t lose hope if you’re waiting quite a bit of time between each stage. Good luck to all going through the process

That’s pretty short waiting in comparison to most I have seen. Good information provided and may help put others minds at ease. They will get back, just when they can as they’re swamped! I sat my Stage 1 and passed 16 weeks ago and have still heard nothing. I have since accepted a job for Network Rail as a Grade 9 Signaller and just passed my medical today. Applied after my application to ScotRail too. Although that was still some waiting.

Appreciate that. I have loved my time there, but so glad I’ve managed to get into the Railway after 3 years of trying. Hard work pays off!

Medical 26th September, I'm waiting to be invited to complete a disclosure check. No other info or contact so far, and I have chased by email.

I sat my medical on 10th September. I also had to pay for additional tests privately to prove my laser eye surgery is stable and to standard. I've heard nothing back from Scotrail since. So I emailed Optima Health and they confirmed everything had been sent back to the Recruitment Team. I've emailed them to enquire about the next stage last week but so far no reply. I'm getting a bit nervous now as I have a provisional start date of 14th November and I'll need to sort my notice out in a couple of weeks....
Did you hear anything back after this? I am in a similar situation, have been given a start date for the beginning of December, pending passing my medical which was 2 weeks ago. I know they will be swamped at the moment!

Had my DMI today. Think I did reasonably well on some questions and maybe didn’t score very much on a couple. Be interesting to know the pass mark but overall the interviewers were very friendly and are great and getting you to relax.

Some generic questions ‘why do you want to be a train driver’ ‘why is safety important’ . Definitely research Scotrail as a company I think that was one of my better scoring answers. Look at the about us section on the website and learn the core values.

Formal contract and associated forms came through via email about a week before my 28 day notice period was due. Was fairly close to the wire but all signed now and due to start on 14th November. Thrilled to bits!

Hope you hear back soon.

Thanks for the information. It looks like I was on more or less the same timescale however I haven’t heard anything since being advised I had passed the 1st lot of assessments. If you don’t mind me asking, where is it you’ll be based?

Does anyone know if it’s worth sending a chaser email to recruitment?

I’ll be based in ayr. I did email recruitment a few times to chase things up. Some emails were answered and others weren’t. I just put this down to them being extremely busy

Hi all, excuse me if it has been covered before. On the two handed coordination test , would anyone have an idea what time is acceptable for each of the ten runs round the track. I know it is a test of accuracy and speed and going out the track has to be resolved as quickly as possible. Anyone who passed any idea roughly how long on each run is acceptable ?

No idea what time is acceptable, I just concentrated on trying to keep it in and going as quickly as possible.
You'll definitely go off the track but just get back on it and don't panic.

What are the most challenging parts of the assessments process excluding the interviews?
1St assessments, for me was probably the retaining the info from the passage, eg was it a red square or red circle.
2nd assessments I was most worried about the traffic scene, but only put what you definitely saw, don't guess.
