Hi mate

Yeah I’m the same sound out last night I’ve been successful thankfully so next step is a medical.

Is there a long wait time to get the medical booked in and completed?
Hey

I had my medical within 4 days of being notified i passed stage 2. Been a really quick process for me

Hello

That’s good that’s a really quick turnaround! Hopefully the same for me.

I go on holiday 21st September for 1 week and they advised I won’t be starting until after this date so unsure when that could potentially be

Can anyone confirm how many competence/STAR questions they normally ask at a DMI?

Also, are they expecting you to break down the STAR part of your answer (e.g. Saying ‘the Situation was…….’, followed by ‘the task I faced was……….’)?
Hi mate i never got asked any competancy based questions at my DMI but got asked 6 at my MMI. I found the DMI quite relaxed and the managers were keen to hear what i would in certain situations, what i knew about the role and the what qualities i had there were similar to a train driver. Make an appointement with the depot you have applied for as i found this really helpful and picked up loads if info that i used at my interview. Hope that helps

I reckon you will get a medical pretty quick and well before your holiday mate. What depot you applied for?

I got the required standard email at the end of April.

Its the Fort William depot I applied for, so I am settling in for the long haul.

Hello, first poster here!

I've applied a few times for trainee drivers with ScotRail but this one (March 24 application) is the first time I've heard anything back (27th May 24) this was the same "we'll be in touch" email others have received.

From what I've read thus far it's still very much a waiting game, with some people hearing back quickly and others waiting ages.

I've got a contact who is a train driver manager for a separate TOC (who is ex ScotRail) and they've advised me to practice the dots/ bourbon tests ect.

I was wondering would it be appropriate to at this point speak to drivers/ managers at my local station (Stirling) and is there any other ways I can prepare myself?

Thanks in advance!
Hi

I’ve been waiting a couple of months now for assessment date 1.
I have practiced group bourdon test online
& a couple of the other tests ,
No harm in practicing.
I would concentrate on one stage at a time from what I’ve heard on here .
So I’ve not spoken to any drivers yet.
I am half way between Stirling & Perth stations .
Hopefully we will hear something soon .
Good luck

Hi, I've just had my successful email after last weeks DMI and an invitation to 2nd day for this Thursday. Email did say it was short notice and to let them know if I can't make it, preferably would be good to have a little more time but if thats going to delay my application, ill just do it this Thursday. Have emailed to say as much.

But no details re tests, can anyone please advise the tests...as far as I know it's the 0.8 second scene, a colour changing dot, and a joystick style test moving around a track. Are there any others?

And also any information regarding the MMI interview.....is it a case of you get a list of situational questions to complete and are then asked about them?

Sorry, I know all the info is in this thread and believe me I've read lots lol, but it's just the short time scale now I thought I'd put my questions to you guys and gals.

Any info would be very much appreciated.

There is also situational judgement questions to answer. And yes, you will be given 6 questions to give brief answers too. You will then be interviewed on them.

I did an online situational judgement test, so is this another one to base questions on at MMI?
Thanks

There certainly was when I was there a few months ago.

As for the MMI, it's 6 questions along the lines of "tell me about a time when .....". That's what the interview is based on.

Thank you. To be honest I was a little worried, as I kept feeling I was repeating myself a lot. Had passed it 5 years ago, but when the lockdown happened, it obviously didn't progress further. Maybe because I'd already passed it I felt more under pressure. The way the questions were worded seemed quite general as opposed to asking about specifics.

Has anyone heard back who applied for Glasgow central? Had DMI on 20/06/24 and not heard anything. Sent an email about 2 weeks ago with no reply. Just a waiting game for me, still hoping no news is good news

I have my interview coming up at Bathgate next week, does anyone know if it will be a panel or individual doing the interview ?

The email does only give one name for doing the interview but just wanting to check from anyone who has recently done this stage.

Thanks

Two people. DTM and someone from HR. That's where I had mine.

Perfect mate thanks for the response. How did you find it ? Relaxed or very formal.

Any advice ? Or just simply learn as much about the company/role requirements and duties as possible.

I had 3 ops managers on my invite email to be on the panel but only 2 were actually there. 1 took the lead and the other took notes and only had a little input. Mine was in Glasgow though so could be different

Thinking re practicing reaction time has anyone got any computer/phone games they found beneficial?
Morning - you may find the Assessments discussion thread more helpful in answering your question. It’ll give your question exposure to people who are sitting similar assessments across England/Scotland/Wales rather than specific to ScotRail recruitment :)
