That's the same as me then except I haven't heard anything since I emailed for an update in June and was told they had no information for me.I applied in 2019, sat the first round of assessments in early 20. I then got an email inviting me to an interview with a weeks notice out of the blue.
I passed the tests and MMI yesterday and am just waiting to confirm a date for the medical.
I am an external candidate.

Passing my MMI to medical was about a weeks wait. After passing my initial assessments in March 2020 I was invited to a DMI last week, just been told I passed and have my MMI next week.
I know there is a wealth of information on here which I have searched but wondering if anyone had any specific tips or advice. Any help would be much appreciated.
I'm assuming we were probably in at the same tests.
I e-mailed a couple of times since then and was told it was all on hold for obvious reasons. Also e-mailed a couple of times more recently and haven't heard anything back.

After the email to say we'd passed the assessment day there was no other correspondence unless you contacted them and now they're not even replying.

Has anyone heard if the people who applied under Abellio are still in with a chance and if so when the next round of managers interviews are likely? Thanks
There are interviews with previous applications from a couple of years ago being done at my depot next week. Don't think the switch has made any difference for that. Unsure of managers interviews. Will depend on where they are looking for drivers and if they have any current trainees. School is open and running but they are still trying to get some poor folk through who were delayed by covid so things have been moving a little slow for some up until recently. The switch to now being run under Scottish Government shouldn’t affect any recruitment, If you are already in the system. Which depot have you applied for? As has been said, the training school is back up and running, but trying to clear a backlog off trainee’s due to Covid. There’s been a knock on effect at some depots, Too many trainees coming through and not enough instructors to cope.Has anyone heard if the people who applied under Abellio are still in with a chance and if so when the next round of managers interviews are likely? Anybody in this round of recruitment? Had a DMI this week and not heard anything. Wondering if anyone in the same boat? This was from applying 3 years ago, email came out of the blue a few weeks ago asking if still interested - sat the first round of assessments and interview offered that week!

I’m pretty sure there’s loads on this forum about the DMI if you search for it.

Can’t speak for any other depots other than Edinburgh really, but there are 3 links. Based on seniority. They’re the rosters that are made up, link 1 being the most senior drivers. A newly passed out driver will slot into link 3 providing there is space. Link 1 drivers sign HSTs, whereas Link 2 & 3 don’t. Link 2 drivers sign Glasgow Central whereas link 3 don’t (although the rumour is that may change).Is anyone waiting for a start date?

Hi folks......just a quick question out of interest and slightly off topic. Is the Queen Street crews operating on the West Highland Line only go as far as Crianlarich or do they go all the way to Oban/Fortwilliam? Are they dedicated solely to that service? Many thanks in advance, T

Queen St crews work all the way to Oban and back. They also used to work to Rannoch on the sleepers. And no, it's not dedicated work. It's the Link 2 roster comprising 34 drivers who sign all tractions, so as well as Oban they work HSTs to Perth, 385s to Edinburgh and everything in between.Hi folks......just a quick question out of interest and slightly off topic. I’ve heard this figure as well although I don’t know where or why it originated, given that there aren’t even 1600 drivers at present. I spoke to an ops manager a while ago and he said it was 130 per year for the next 3 years which seems more likely to me.

I heard it from a reliable source. Certainly at my depot we are top heavy on drivers over 50yr old and with the aspirations of the company to bring Sunday into the working week they'll need alot of new drivers to not only fill vacancies due to retirement but to increase the depot compliments.
Whatever figure is the correct one, it is good news that there is plenty of opportunities for people to get into the best job in the railway!
