Is it still true you can pass everything (stage one, managers interview, stage two) and then not be placed on a reserve list (talent pool) for whatever reason? Some poor guys had that happen earlier in the thread wasn't sure if that was just an unusual occurrence for scotrail

If the managers interview is before stage two then surely they would get rid of anyone then they didn't want or is it because qualified freight men are perhaps rightly taking jobs thanks to aslef

I went through all the stages right to the end and got put into a talent pool, after 8 months I hard back from them and got a job, don't give up its a long process so stick it out. Now I'm currently half way through my training as a driver. Best of luck guys.

Well I've noticed on one of my applications that iv duplicated some text, it was when i was cutting and pasting into the other application i had noticed the original form was then blank so had to recopy the text back over. Safe to say that application will be binned and I'm hoping the dont bin both

It seems to depend on what area you're in for how desperate they are for drivers as far as I can tell. They may have guys from all different depots scheduled to be in a class at the training school as they need drivers for those depots the most and want them started first so they hopefully pass out first. If that is the case then I guess it just depends on where you're drawn. Alternatively they may start 8drivers for Central (or any depot that has 8 positions available) and put them all through at the same time. Congratulations for passing Stage 1, stay patient and you'll either get a phone call then an email or just an email to tell you of your interview date & time. You'll have over a week of notice to prep so that's plenty of warning. Best of luck, hope all goes well.

I'd heard today from a friend working from Aberdeen depot that there have been around 100 internal applicants moved forward to the 1st stage assessments but dont know where he heard that other than possible station gossip

Most internal applicants have had 1st stage assessments and are either waiting on interview date or have had their interview and are waiting on hearing back.

I heard a rumor yesterday..maybe bothy talk...that 75% of the advertised jobs had been withdrawn by Abellio.

This was down to Abellio failing to agree a salary increase with company council to make sunday part of the working week. The company cant afford the increase in salary so things will remain as they are and drivers wont need employed to cover the sunday.

we already know as fact that jobs were withdrawn from several depots.

maybe someone can shed more light on this

Transport Scotland want Abellio to include Sunday inside and if Abellio do not play then there may be other disputes coming similar to this Summer!
The alternative is their 10 year reign might be cut short by 5 years!

According to company council reps, there will be no Sundays as part of the working week until 2018 at the earliest and also dependent on a significant pay rise. So a very real possibility that it won't happen at all and maybe adds some weight to the rumours of job withdrawals.

You would have to think that what drivers receive for booked Sundays including new allowance would be a starting point although noone would sell the choice of doing a Sunday or not for same money.

It is Railway Recruitment process so yeah..
Ive heard from Aslef Local rep that recruitment will be on hold apart from bigger depots, Perth and Edinburgh being mentioned

They were stupid enough to advertise for all of these new drivers on the strength of Sunday becoming part of the working week before they'd bothered to find out the likelihood of the current drivers going for it.

It was only a commitment to hold talks on Sundays as part of the working week, nothing more. And that wasn't what resolved the current Sunday issues - an additional Sunday payment sorted that and effectively killed any chance of the company succeeding in introducing Sunday as part of the working week.

So iirc it was £67odd signing on payment.

So was this recruitment drive (launched in fanfare by the transport minister!) For general recruitment purposes or for intention of Sundays coming inside?

Not solely for that purpose, extra services being ran and "natural wastage" as it's known of drivers retiring, stopping driving after incidents etc. was also a reason. I believe the big push was in the hope of Sundays becoming part of the working week but not many drivers are keen on it without a very hefty wage increase and that's something the TOC can't (or wont) pay.
No point in assuming anything is any different regarding the recruitment process until Scotrail put out an announcement or contact you directly to say your application is on hold.
