Oban and Fort Willliam are strange. Both depots are fully staffed with no imminent retirements or leavers. Wonder if there are plans to increase the service.

just copy/paste your answers into a document on your computer so you can reuse it.

Probably not.
same with Edinburgh, it was only about 1-2 years ago they hired 100 new trainees

Inverness; Dundee; Aberdeen (possibly Inverurie, can’t remember off the top of my head); Edinburgh via Newburgh; Edinburgh via Leuchars; Fife Circle; Glasgow Queen St via Croy; Glasgow Queen St via Cumbernauld. Some also know Larbert - Haymarket via Grahamston/Newbridge but Perth men don’t sign Haymarket sheds. Not sure if the starter link signs all the above but that mostly covers it.

Traction 158/170 and HST (again not sure if new starts will sign the latter).

If you state on your application you are willing to relocate then you will be fine. Plenty of successful applicants have been appointed a position and then relocated.

From this I assume the 45mins is rigid. To do with working hours?

Forgive my ignorance, something I haven't considered long but currently do a job that probably the only thing that's up there with the high ratio of applicants to the low number of jobs, so understand I'll need to start the prep now.

Yes, as you say it's for working hours so you're not tired when working due to excessive commuting. Also the longer time you need to commute lends itself to the possibility of being late for your shift. The more time you're on the road the more chance you may be held up with roadworks, breakdowns, accidents etc.
I was once told the best way to get to work is to walk as it's very unlikely you'll be delayed walking (no flat tyres like a bicycle/vehicle and no engine to breakdown) and if you're able to walk it means you're close to the depot but there are plenty of drivers travelling half an hour or 45mins.

Before privatisation Perth men used to sign as far as Carlisle for working the sleepers. They signed electric locos too for the same reason.

I live in the South of England and have applied for Perth - I've put that I'm happy to relocate (as I am) and we'll see what happens.

It was fine for me yesterday although I had problems previously with another application on the Abellio site. I assume you've tried different web browsers?

Can anyone provide any advice as how best to complete the application form. This is my 3rd try for similar type role, in 3 years and I have never made it through the application form stage.

I think I can evidence good examples due to being an emergency service worker but I can't get past stage one. How long or otherwise should my answers be? Can I provide more than one example for each question?

Advice would be much appreciated thanks.

I've not seen the current application form, it may or may not be the same as I filled out a few years ago. When I applied there was a word limit for answers and it stated what it was on the question if there was one, on several of them I was on this limit or a few words under. I typed my answers out on Word to get the word count and then it was just a case of copy & paste from Word to application. It meant I had the answers in the Word document if any other positions came up.
I only used 1 example and I structured my answers in the STAR format (Situation, Task, Action, Result)
Plenty of ex-emergency services are now drivers so you will no doubt have the experiences for answers, it's just a case of structuring them correctly no doubt.
