Just been on the phone to my elderly parents.
They've told me that it was announced on "The Highland Chieftan" (on their journey earlier in the week) that Scotrail tickets were not valid on the service.
(Apparently also in the Saturday Magazine of "The Courier" Fiona Armstrong was writing about being thrown off a train at Morpeth because the £59 ticket she had just purchased was invalid.)
This has left them very confused and anxious about travelling by train - indeed they've just told my brother that he mustn't travel on the 'Chieftan using his season ticket because it was issued by Scotrail. He is fully aware that there is no issue with him travelling on the 'Chieftan on a season ticket.
I've explained to them that the tickets I arrange for them will always allow them to use whichever train they wish unless I tell them otherwise, but find it quite tiresome that announcements aren't clear and more annoying that once again a journalist is whining about their ticket not being valid on the train not marked on their reservation.
