Scotrail Sleeper Seated Layout/Config

I am trying to find out the seating plan for the SEATED carriage(s) of the Scotrail overnight sleeper service from London to Scotland (Dundee).

Can anyone help/suggest please?

I don't think there is a layout diagram but it is a 2+1 seating configuration, was there a specific issue you had?

I am in Seat 8A and want to know if I am on a 4 or a 2 part of the configuration?

BTW: Its pretty pathetic that you call online web sales for ScotRail - go through to India and they themselves cannot even tell you which way you are facing or if you are in a 2 or 4 config.

There's only one bay of 4 in the seating coach, and it's at one end. I can't remember the seat numbers but it's likely to be 1-4 or higher numbers, so 8 won't be a bay of 4, but I am unsure if it's an individual seat or next to another seat.

I've hardly done the sleeper since 37s ended in 2006.

I think it would be more a case of not seeing the point rather than 'not allowing'.

FSR telsales is Fort William....... they may still be unintelligable though - teuchtar is a steep learning curve. They are a call centre / customer service centre, not a rail office, that is the problem.

there are two sets of facing seats, one at either end of the coach. These have 2 seats facing and 4 seats facing either side of the aisle. I've been there once and they are not very comfortable if there is someone opposite you. All the rest are airline style. These seats are in first and last numbered in the coach.

For "not very comfortable" read impossible. You can get one set of legs down the gap between the seats, but not two. Was allocated one of these once on the Edinburgh - London leg of the combined Aberdeen/Inverness sleeper (having arrived from Fort Bill in the lounge car. Bloke in the seat opposite was asleep and sprawled - happily there was another seat spare otherwise I would have had a new best friend.......!

Actually Ive found the telesales office in Fort William to be very helpful with berth bookings to the extent that Ive been able to board at Garelochead with my ticket and receipt given to the steward in an envelope despite only booking 2 hours before the trains departure from Fort Bill. I've also had discussions about which berths are next to the toilets and over the bogies expertly answered.

Im making 2 sleeper journeys back from Scotland next month, and want to make sure I get a single seat!

I think the honest answer is that no-one here seems to know

The entire seated coach is 2+1. Seats are numbered in rows from front to back and letters from one side to the other. The recollections of others here suggests that you will most likely not be in a set of facing seats, since they're located at either end of the carriage, presumably numbered 1A - 6C at one end.

So you're most likely going to be in an airline seat, but I can't tell you whether you're in the window seat of a pair of seats or the single seat across the aisle. I would imagine it's more likely to be the latter, since it sounds you like made a reservation for just yourself, and it would make the most sense to have given you a solo seat to keep pairs for people travelling together.

I haven't any more sleeper trips planned for a couple of months, so I'm afraid I can't help any more than that. Sorry!
