Booked on a seated sleeper to Inverness in a week's time. There were no Solo (standard) supplements available at the time, but I was advised that if there was a spare cabin I could upgrade on the train. I'm just curious to know if anyone has any opinion on what my chances would be?

As ever, many thanks for any help.

If you hold an Advance ticket then unfortunately you will have to buy a whole new Berth Inclusive fare to upgrade.

If you hold a normal walk up ticket then all you pay is the upgrade which is about £40 for a standard berth - you may have to share though. I'm not sure if you can get a "solo" on board. I'll ask my steward on Wednesday what the script is and post back.

As to availability. Who knows? Quite often folk who have booked just don't turn up. This is less likely in the berths though as unlike the seats you have to pay for your reservation.

Good luck.
