Hi all, first time posting.

I have recently applied for the role of Skilled Engineering Technician A1.3 with ScotRail. I am trying to research the position and am hoping someone here can shed some light.

The role is in Perth and the job advert lists this as one of 4 ScotRail maintenance depots.
It was my understanding ScotRail has much more than four maintenance depots so I am confused by this.
The post is also listed as 3 shifted but I understand that all maintenance at Perth is nightshift. Is this likely to be an error or are things changing?

Does anyone know what the a1.3 means, is this a ScotRail grading?

And finally if anyone knows what the assessment involves I would be grateful for info.

Thanks in advance.

Sounds odd as Perth isn't one of the 4 maintenance depots. They are Corkerhill,Shields,Haymarket and Inverness. Other depots like Eastfield and Yoker are not maintenance depots but servicing and stabling points. However Perth depot is being upgraded and will involve HSTs so will probably be 3 shifted. The 3.1 is a pay grade but not sure what it means in ££££.

Thanks, it makes sense with your point about Hst being introduced that things are changing at Perth. I wonder if it is to become one of the bigger maintenance depots and maybe another is downsizing?
