Scotrail shenanigans?

Hi,

This afternoon I caught 1A69, the Scotrail 1439 Glasgow Queen Street (GLQ) to Inverness (INV) Scotrail service to Dundee (DEE).

The incoming stock x-ABD didn’t arrive until 1438 (was due 1417) so we didn’t get away until 1447.

On the platform there was a tannoy announcement just before the train arrived, which sounded like it was saying the service had been cancelled but due to the building work currently underway at GLQ (hammering and drilling) It was impossible to be certain.

Not long after departure the guard announced that the train would terminate at ABD due to previous delays although the automated announcement defiantly continued to list all stations to INV.

Just before arrival at PTH another announcement was made, that INV pax should alight at PTH and join a service to INV via AVM at that point we were only running 5L.

We arrived into DEE only 2L.

According to RTT the train did make it to INV arriving only 2L.

So why were we told it was cancelled beyond ABD and INV pax turfed off at PTH?

The via Aviemore train would get to Inverness a full 74 minutes sooner, and is the usual way of getting to Inverness. I'm assuming a standard announcement so passengers don't go round the houses.

Thanks, I wasn’t aware of the timing, still confused though why they said the service would be caped at ABD.

Maybe at the time they didn't have a driver/guard for beyond Aberdeen but by the time it reached Aberdeen a replacement had been found?

(That is assuming staff change at Aberdeen)
