EC is now advising passengers not to travel north of Edinburgh (1pm update).
Tay Bridge is closed & 50mph limit on other routes.

I live just opposite the North End of the Tay Bridge, and from my window I can't even see the lower half of the piers because the spray being thrown up by the River is so high.

Pretty rough down in Stirlingshire as well, and this is just the start

NRE are now reporting overhead wire problems at Motherwell, an obstruction on the line at Carrbridge and a tree on the line near Crianlarich.

Northern are now also being affected due to flooding at Ribblehead and speed restrictions between Leeds/Bradford FS and Skipton. Weather is pretty bad down South too, not on the same scale though.

Overall Scotrail and NR seem to be doing a decent job. They seem to have put their minds to keeping as much of the network going as possible - rather than just giving up. Hopefully the can continue to keep things moving as we get into the peak.

The full brunt seems to be hitting the East now. In the last 90 mins it has gone from a bit windy to mildy scary. I don't like the way my patio windows are creaking

Problems do seem to be getting cleared quickly, so they do look prepared.

The National Rail Twitter account posted this picture up a short time ago, this is the landslide which has caused services between Inverness and Kyle of Lochaish to be withdrawn.

Information about tonights sleepers will be posted on NRE later today.

ScotRail Sleeper services:

The Fort William to London Euston service tonight has been cancelled Replacement transport to Glasgow cannot be provided due to road closures in the West of Scotland.
The Aberdeen to London Euston service will run but may be diverted via Stirling and, if that happens, would not call at Leuchars.
All other Caledonian Sleeper trains are expected to run tonight.

Unfortunately it's now Scotrails turn to give out conflicting info.

According to the Temp timetable the expresses have been withdrawn on the Shotts line, but according to their live disruption page the next 2 are progged to run. But they also show the 17:18 Edinburgh to Motherwell via shotts are running but "delayed" according to NRE it;s still sitting in EDB.

In other words it looks like they have stopped updating the live pages - not what is needed at the heart of rush hour!

For the Wind Turbines, im guessing it happened due to the blades failing to Feather, as if you look at the others they are completely vertical (Leading edge pointing up, and not at a angle)

Not in Scotland, but theres been an obstruction on the line for Southern and FCC at Three Bridges, presumably weather related and theres now more delays on the ECML due to a person being hit by a train at Alexandra Palace - wasnt there just one there a couple of days ago or am i imagining things ?

Things are looking quite stacked up - there was an HST being held on the up fast at Biggleswade a short while ago, haven't heard it move since... I assume there's queuing to go round the Hertford loop?

A lot of trains are showing up as having never left Edinburgh Waverley, without any explanation now.

Even the 1800 EDB to GLQ is showing up as having never left.

Are they starting to shut down the network?

Nope I see some are starting to move but with 15min+ delays - looks like they had a little hiccup!

The 1930 glq-edb is formed of a sole class 158- quietly happy pity about the 50mph ESR. Still cancellations on the north clyde going on, heard there are obstacles/ohl damage west of queen st LL.

Flooding in Yorkshire as well - so not just Scotland seeing the high winds and rain.

Quite windy up here in the NE but no disruptions that I can see yet.

The first incident near Balcombe involved the 1424 Bedford-Brighton hitting a tree, closing the up and down lines briefly - it was sent ECS to depot with a cracked windscreen, by all accounts, with passengers rumoured to have been detrained at Haywards Heath.)

Nope, there's no diversions as the incident was at Alexandra Palace so made little difference as all trains were restricted onto the single line there regardless if they went via Welwyn GC or Hertford.

A Oxford to Ely steam charter just passed though Stevenage minutes ago from the Hertford route, don't know if that was booked or not.

The South is starting to take a smaller battering as well, problems are -

- Tree on the line at Cowden - Buses from Oxted and Haywards Heath to Uckfield
- Obstruction on the line at Warblington
- Obstruction on the line at Rainham - Buses from Gillingham to Faversham
- Obstruction on the line at Shawford (now being shown on NRE as "cleared"
- Tree on the line at Balcombe as mentioned above

Still on going problems on services in Scotland, alterations for tomorrow morning are not yet posted, but the 06.50 Glasgow Central to Kings Cross will start at Edinburgh.
