Scotrail senior railcard

I was surprised to see the following on the Scotrail website:

Can I use my Senior Railcard before 10am?
No, unfortunately you can’t use your Senior Railcard before 10am, Monday to Friday, as peak time restrictions apply. These restrictions don’t apply on weekends and public holidays when you can travel at any time of day with your Senior Railcard.

They also say:

Please note, the terms and conditions of the Senior Railcard are not controlled by ScotRail, so we are unable to change these during the Off-Peak fares all day long trial, which runs between 2 October 2023 and 28 June 2024. This means the time restrictions for the Senior Railcard still apply during this trial.

The Senior Railcard site only mentions London and the SE, and Scotrail's own booking engine gives the discount, applying it to the off-peak all day fare.

I assume they are just plain wrong, or am I missing something?

ScotRail are plain wrong. Unfortunately TOC sites often contain misleading or incorrect information, and this is no exception.

The only restriction on the use of Senior Railcards is that they cannot be used before Off-Peak tickets become valid (which will almost always be before 10am in any event) for journeys wholly within the Network Area (i.e. former Network SouthEast area).

There are no restrictions on using a Senior Railcard for journeys in Scotland - and there never have been - so ScotRail really have no excuse for having nonsense like that on their website.

Worse, Scotrail have compounded their error by adding the section quoted by the OP referring to the current Off-Peak fares trial. To have copied and pasted the lines for the Network Area would be bad enough, but the fares trial lines have been drafted by themselves.

The 2nd bullet point does incorrectly make it sound like the railcard is only valid off-peak.

Conversely, Northern's website falls into the opposite trap of saying there are no time restrictions anywhere in the country https://www.northernrailway.co.uk/tickets/railcards/senior

Are there any time restrictions with the Senior Railcard?
There are no time restrictions with the Senior Railcard. You can travel seven days per week, whenever suits you best.

Except it's still wrong, given there are time restrictions! Albeit they only apply to journeys within the former Network SouthEast area.
