Been seeing a lot more units in Saltire livery recently, units looking very smart, how much longer till all FSR units are in the new livery?

2015 at the earliest. That's when the 318's refurb is estimated to be completed.

The unofficial scot-rail website keeps a tab on all the current refurbishment works in progress and is a good source of information.

Class 170 DMUs and Class 320 and 334 EMUs are currently being reliveried as part of scheduled upgrades. It suggests Class 318 shall begin soon.

Scotrail Saltire repaints are almost at the 50% mark. 86 FSR remain and 63 Strathclyde remain.

Not repainted = 149; Repainted or underway is 146. [Take out the 3 x class 90 and it is exactly halfway!!]

Surely add in the sleeper coaches? You could "cheat" with those and designate each 8-coach rake as a "unit" (think there's nine of these? Four up and four down each night and one being serviced at Inverness?), a further "unit" for the two coaches that shuttle between Edinburgh and Fort William and a final "unit" to cover the additional spare coaches?

I've read somewhere that only 5 of the 314s are getting the Saltire livery. Why would this be the case?

I think its because they dont have as many years left in them as other units do

The were the 5 which hadn't been repainted in the revised Carmine and Cream with the doors fully cream. So they were due repaint whilst the others were not.

Shame the 320s haven't seen a major interior refurbishment other than toilets

I was under the impression the interior would change considerably but it hasn't. Ex strathclyde 156s also retain the old interior although it was refurbished not so long ago.

the 334s are getting a great interior

170s needed doing as many examples had parts of the First stripes faded or missing
