ScotRail Qualified Drivers

Hi all,

Does anyone know if/when ScotRail are likely to start looking at taking in qualifieds? My partner and I (both drivers) are looking to move up.

I've no inside info but from what I've seen in the past they've got talent pools of drivers left over from covid to work through and because the Scottish Government part subsidise the training they don't often take qualified drivers (always seems to be trainees)

Also bear in mind that even though theres 2 of you theres no guarantee you'd both get positions at the same depot or both get positions at the same time.

Thanks for your reply and the information. We know what we're up against with regards to the odds of us both getting a position at the same time so it comes down to luck. We're happy to wait but wanted to move up as we have family there and want to be near them.

I suppose a speculative email wouldn't do too much harm. Then we'll know for sure!

As do Avanti at Polmadie but they don't recruit anywhere near as often as ScotRail do.

We have 3 drivers who transferred in - 2 from Northern and 1 from TfW. There was no recruitment at the time so I'm guessing they put in speculative applications.

LNER could also be a possibility with their Edinburgh depot.

There was a northern driver who wrote to Scotrail and asked for a job. Probably one of the two you’re talking about.
