Dont you think that Scotrail could last on 170s after EGIP, aberdeen, highland mainline, east kilbride/barrhead, whifflet and Paisley Canal electrification?

If so, ScotRail have wasted all their money painting the entire 156 fleet?

158s? Will they be needed?

I think there's clearance issues which mean 156s will have to remain in Scotland (unless Bombardier introduce a new slimmer 172 or something).

Painting hardly makes a massive dent in the budget of TS.

I think they deserve better, more powerful stock than the 170s - ideally stock where a quarter of the side doesn't open to bitterly cold stations in the winter.

No, painting/vinyling is only a fraction of the Scotrail budget.

158s? Will they be needed?

Maybe.
