ScotRail Mk3s at Slateford

Morning,

Does anyone know what’s happened to the three carriages that were at Slateford please?

I’ve been past today and no sign of them but not seen any mention of them moving on here.

The carriages in question are 42144, 42185 and 42209.

They’ve been moved to Haymarket to be integrated into another 3 rakes. It’ll probably take a bit of time as they’ve been heavily vandalised.

Sadly not the worst of them. I’ve seen some photos (internal only so I won’t be sharing them I’m afraid) and they’ll be needing a lot of new windows, plus interior repairs, new LED Lighting strips and general tidying.

If I’m honest, I’d be surprised if all 3 return. 2 of the 3 is potentially more likely.

That’ll will be something Transport Scotland will have to take up with Angel Trains who paid for them to be refurbished in the first place. Though TS will have to explain to them why they chose to leave them in Slateford for so long. Either way, whilst they may have potential replacements lined up, the HST fleet still remains on lease until 2030…

Seemed to be a really stupid place to leave, unattended, expensively refurbished carriages for so long.

Wont they have to return them in the same condition they got them anyway as they don't own them? So they could just be fixing them up for that.
