380 working again today I see, at present, 1036 Glasgow Queen Street > Oban. Obviously my info from the ScotRail website was duff

170401 has returned to service today (21/01)
That particular turbo is literally falling to bits internally, countless heating issues, saloon sliding door faults and is in dire need of a refurb. I really hope that is one the 17 due to get an overhaul later this year.

Am i right in thinking that it's the oldest 170?

In Scotland.
The 170/1 fleet was built first for Midland Mainline - delivery from end 1998, entry into service May 1999
The 170/4 fleet was delivered from summer 1999, entry into service ?

Looks like 318251 coming out Broadies this morning as 37800 is at Kilmarnock, and there is also a path in from Shields to Kilmarnock Broadies which I suspect will be 320303 going there

27 September 1999 I think with the timetable change and the start of the 15 min E&G service (not many were in service on the first day - perhaps just 170401/2).

Another will be added to the list tomorrow as there is a path in for a move from either Shields or Yoker CS under own power to Wolverton

Refurbishment/overhaul starts in October for 170401-415 and 470/471.
Do you know if they'll be doing the newer 170's at some point (425-434 and 450-452) or is that not due for a while yet?

The interior on some of those just like the older ones are a bit messy on the luggage racks and some of the ceiling panels, probably not as bad as the older ones.
I mentioned this in the ScotRail Class 170 thread before as well.

Would be good if the seat covers were washed at least. Some of the seats are grubby and quite minging at the headrest.

Does anyone know the current location of unit 156502 please?
Also, there was a Class 158 poking a nose out of the engineering building at Kilmarnock seen from a passing train on Tuesday - any ideas on it's identity?
