HA25 and HA26 have both been out in passenger traffic at the same time. HA24 is yet to see revenue service though.

There’s around a dozen off-lease Angel TGS vehicles at Ely. What mileage they have left on the bogies, I don’t know.

Given the final plan is for 27 sets, are there not more classic sets available until the refurbs are complete to free up 170s and 158s? It would surely be possible to send 5 sets to Scotland then as one refurb is complete send a Classic set south?

They've already increased from 10 to 13 Classic sets. I'm not sure whether they plan any further increase.

I can't recall how many HST diagrams there are supposed to be from May.

I don't know either, but I do know there will be more HML services worked by HSTs

Well that's one thing, the distribution of HSTs on the HML has seemingly been quite sparse.

It has improved over the past 2 or 3 weeks, from what I've noticed

Have thought about it, not sure about the HML specifically, but I seem to recall a mention of an increase from 10 to 16 HST diagrams from May up-thread IIRC.

That will give those of us who work HSTs some much needed experience with them...as well as improving things for passengers.

I still haven't experienced once, refurbished or otherwise, but I look forward to the increased number of sets and diagrams, and I'm sure passengers enthusiast and non-enthusiast alike will be pleased with the increase.

The post suggests that instead of increasing the diagrams during the currency of the timetable, that instead Classic sets will be swapped out for refurbished sets when available.

Therefore, there will be at least 15 refurbished sets before December out of the 26.

That would make sense - HA23 (4th refurbished set) due to leave Doncaster soon (Today's move was cancelled) next week & going to Inverness (via Dundee) for training, I presume.

Surely it can't be long before set 3 is in passenger service, unless it's being used for training right up until the May timetable change?

I'd imagine so - last I heard was that it was at Eastfield for Glasgow Queen St crew training

I thought Wabtec were the experts at this sort of conversion work. At this rate Scotrail will be lucky to have the 9 four car sets by the end of the year.
I hope I am going to be proved wrong.

Could be anything. It might be related to the set, or it could be that a driver wasn't available.

Not looking good, well it's nearly four month's of this year gone and just 2 sets delivered this year (just one last year) so even the most optimistic people will wonder what's going on! I think even 9 sets by the end of the year is pushing it....

Spent some time analysing the diagrams for these. In order of most diagrams
1. Edinburgh to Aberdeen
2. Glasgow Queen Street to Aberdeen via Stirling, Perth and Dundee,
3. Edinburgh to Inverness via Inverkeithing and Perth,
4. Glasgow Queen Street to Inverness via Stirling and Perth

I passed Eastfield depot yesterday and did see a refurbished set sitting around.

Went to and from Inverness today and walked around the area. Didnt see a refurished set at all - only a classic one. Eastfield had one though.

The in-service refurbished sets are limited to Edinburgh-Aberdeen, so that's probably why.

Mind you HSTs in Inverness bar the Chieftain were rather rare recently enough!
